Growing up I never cared for these Special Cookies as they were referred to in my family. I just never got the taste of oranges and raisins, to me they were yuckyI never understood why so much fuss was made over them .In my Childs heart I knew we could be eating Pop Tarts with cinnamon and sugar...Why or why were we making these? These were not even pretty or covered in sugar and yet we hid these from people we felt were not worthy of one. They were reserved for only Christmas Time and they were shared with a cup of Tea after a holiday Meal. |

I have found that memories come back to us when we least expect them to, usually when I catch a glimpse of something or a particular smell it will trigger one. Thanksgiving was no exception, I was on my way home from a clients house, they were happy and I was thinking about how they were the first clients I ever cooked for. I was literally scared to death, clueless as to what to do, but luckily I may have had problems with my business theory but I had my ability to cook, because that is genetic. While driving home I passed a Food Lion Grocery Store, not a place I shop now but when we first moved here it played a big part in our first Thanksgiving and that all came flooding back to me while I was driving home. |

Fourteen months ago I would never have thought that so much would have happened in my first year as The South Charlotte Chef. I had an idea last July to become a Personal Chef, as I say when you reach the age between 50 & death you can do what makes your heart happy & cooking and taking care of people is it for me.I had this clear vision I was going to cook for large families and make it easier for them to spend time together and maybe a small party or two.I had a goal to maybe cook on TV by the end of the year and volunteer my services to people in need as much as possible. |

If you read my blog then you know how important my friends are to me.I still have most of the same friends I had when I started school back in 1967 and we are in contact on almost a daily basis.A few weeks ago a got a call from Michelle Famwick , who I used to walk home from school with. She was calling to say Hi and give me some advice on my website. Now she wasn't sitting at home when she did this, she was on vacation in Maine, but she wanted me to know that there were some visual problems on my site that needed to be fixed. |
